Located at the rear of the somerset grocer building, somerset grocer’s wine shop is proud to display a range of local and international wines. We also stock New Zealand boutique beers and a range of specialty spirits.
At our Ashburton specialty wine store we also sell wine by the glass, so you can enjoy a glass of wine with one of the platters from our somerset café menu.
Gift wrapping is available and we are happy to include your choice of wine in one of our fabulous hampers.
Our Ashburton wine shop is also available for private hire, for your Ashburton function. With room for 30 people our space is perfect to entertain corporate guests or perhaps to host a wine tasting evening. Please contact somerset grocer for more information about hiring this unique venue.

beer tasting 2011 | | | June 30th, 6pm we were very excited to host our very first beer tasting! Chris Knight from Moa Beers very happily hosted the event, which showcased a large variety of Moa beers as well as some Weka Cider. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we look forward to hosting another beer tasting in the near future. check out there website www.moabeer.com | | | whisky tasting 2011 | | April 14th, 7pm we were very excited to be host to our very first whisky tasting! The talented Michael F. Fraser Milne came down from Christchurch to host this event. Michael is from the Strathspey/Strathbogie area of Scotland and has been involved with whisky in some way for most of his life. With the cafe full of enthusiasts, Michael entertained the locals with his knowledge of whiskys and his delightful manner. On the night a case of mystery whisky was auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross appeal, for Canterbury. Jim Beggs was the winner of the auction and was very pleased with his case of whisky (even with the liquefaction on the box) and that he will drink over a period of time, responsibly! Thank you to everyone who made it on the night, it was a very memorable night and one that we wish to do again very soon. | | | wine tasting for 2010 | 2010 was our first year at hosting wine tasting events and I would just like to send out a big thank you to everyone who was involved. A lot of hard work was put into making each wine tasting a great success with a great variety of wines being show cased by some great wine representatives. Not to name drop but just to name a few; Kurow Valley, Villa Maria, Passage Rock and Maven Wines. They brought some great wines with them to Ashburton and we are very pleased to now have their wines in our wine shop. | |
